About this place
The 44H.uk initiative is a small hobby project to showcase Hastings and its surroundings from a unique perspective — a small "placeholder" in a grand vision of things to come.
For the first time in its 1000 year history, the Bayeux Tapestry will be on display at the British Museum in London. It is likely to draw a number of history aficionados to Hastings, St Leonards, Battle, and the 1066 Country.
After a visit to the British Museum, Hastings is less than two hours by train from Charing Cross, and a great destination to explore the history around the tapestry
For now, the story is told through the slide show above: the historic net shops, the castle ruins on the West Hill, and other sights.
